🌙 Islamic (Religious) Festivals

1. Eid-ul-Fitr

  • Celebrated at the end of Ramadan.

  • People wear new clothes, give charity (Fitrana), and enjoy sweet dishes like Sheer Khurma.

2. Eid-ul-Adha

  • Commemorates the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim (A.S).

  • Qurbani (sacrifice of animals), family feasts, and giving meat to the needy.

3. Milad un Nabi

  • Celebration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

  • Cities are decorated with lights; Naats, mehfils, and processions are held.

4. Shab-e-Barat

  • Night of forgiveness.

  • Muslims pray for their deceased family members and seek forgiveness.

5. Shab-e-Qadr

  • Special nights in the last ten days of Ramadan.

  • Muslims pray intensely and attend Itikaf.


🇵🇰 National Festivals & Days

6. Pakistan Day – 23rd March

  • Celebrates the Lahore Resolution (1940).

  • Parades and ceremonies, especially at Islamabad Parade Ground.

7. Independence Day – 14th August

  • Flag hoisting, fireworks, national songs, and celebrations everywhere.

  • Streets decorated with green and white lights.

8. Defence Day – 6th September

  • Honors Pakistan’s armed forces.

  • Special events, documentaries, and tributes.

9. Quaid-e-Azam Day – 25th December

  • Celebrating the birth of Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

  • Ceremonies at Mazar-e-Quaid.


🌾 Cultural & Regional Festivals

10. Basant (Punjab)

  • A colorful spring festival marked by kite flying.

  • Traditionally celebrated in Lahore and other Punjab cities.

11. Sindh Cultural Day

  • People wear Ajrak & Sindhi Topi.

  • Cultural shows, music, poetry, and rallies across Sindh.

12. Baloch Culture Day

  • Showcasing Balochi dress, music, dance, and traditions.

13. KP / Pashtun Culture Day

  • Includes Attan dance, Chitrali caps, and traditional food.

14. Cholistan Desert Jeep Rally

  • Annual desert rally held in Punjab's Cholistan Desert.

  • One of the biggest motorsport events in South Asia.

15. Shandur Polo Festival (Gilgit–Baltistan)

  • Played at the world’s highest polo ground.

  • A huge tourist attraction with camping, music, and cultural nights.

16. Lok Mela (Islamabad)

  • A nationwide cultural festival with handicrafts, food, music, and regional stalls.


🍁 Seasonal Festivals

17. Spring Festival (Jashn-e-Baharan)

  • Celebrated in many cities.

  • Flower shows, cultural parades, and family events.

18. Winter Festival (Hunza, Skardu, Kalash Valley)

  • Displays local traditions, dried food cuisines, and cultural dances.


🎉 Minor but Unique Cultural Celebrations

19. Kalash Festivals (Chitral)

  • Chilam Joshi (Spring festival)

  • Uchal (Harvest festival)

  • Choimus (Winter solstice)
    These are extremely unique to the Kalash tribe and attract many tourists.

20. Urs Celebrations

Held at shrines of famous Sufi saints like:

  • Lal Shahbaz Qalandar (Sehwan Sharif)

  • Data Darbar (Lahore)

  • Bari Imam (Islamabad)
    Includes Qawwali, dhamaal, and spiritual gatherings.
